Hi there,
I have 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid. Yesterday I was cleaning my battery posts from corrosion and I noticed a small rubber hose disconnected from a metal pipe between intake hose and engine (see the image below, the red arrow shows where it was disconnected). Is this the intake breather hose that we are talking about? I guess it was disconnected since the major maintenance, about 20,000 miles ago and I was driving like that without knowing. Do I need to worry about anything? Could it somehow damage the engine? I didn't notice anything strange while driving or didn't have any warning light come up. I connected the hose back of course and made sure it is firm and not loose. I believe the service technician forgot to connected back 20,000 miles ago. It is not loose or cracked or damaged. What is the purpose of this hose (line)?
Thanks! Is this the intake breather hose? The red arrow shows where it was disconnected.
That hose is supposed to take in clean air (from the air intake) for the PCV system. As long as a bunch or water/dirt wasn't getting in it would have been fine.
