injen Short RAM intake vacuum hose too big

I bought an Injen Short RAM intake and the 12" 8mm vacuum hose that comes with it is too big for my '02 honda civic stock vacuum hose. I'm worried that if I replace the stock vacuum hose, it will leak. My questions are do I really need to replace the stock vacuum hose with the supplied 12" 8mm vacuum hose. Will the performance of the Injen intake and my Honda will be affected if I don't replace the stock vacuum line? What is this vacuum line is for? Sorry for the stupid question I'm only a newbie. But I really need some answers. Thanks.

your talking about the hose that connects from the intake pipe to engine? id say, if the stock hose fits, use it.

you can always contact the place you bought it at and see if they can get you the right hose.

It's not connected to the SRI. It is connected starting from a small pipe going through the wall about 6" below the wipers to the side of the engine. I have an Injen Short RAM Intake with part# IS1565. But for now I am using the stock hose. Still thank you guys for your suggestions and comments.

Here are some pics guys. These pics are from the installation procedures I got from the Injen website. I'm talking about the small orange hose.http://www.injen.com/docs/other/sear...elID=34&Eng=L4

i can't see the pic but i think you mean the breather hose coming out of the valve cover. if so if its to long cut it to fit . if the diameter of the hose is to big just clamp it on nice and tight . it just vent and recycles spent gases from inside the valve cover .you also could plug the sri hole and attach a breather filter to the crank case if you wanted. here is a weapon r breather filter .

Re: injen Short RAM intake vacuum hose too big

you dont really even need to change that smaller orange line you are asking about. they obviously gave you the wrong one, but i wouldnt even worry about it. i have no idea why that is even included, it wont change anything. its an 8mm vacuum line that doesnt have much at all to do with your intake system.

out of the 2 hoses they are asking you to replace, you only need to replace the 17mm hose (the one going from the engine to the side of the intake) and the only reason you need to replace that is because the stock one is not long enough.
