Sometimes it takes a few tries to actually get my Civic started. Sometimes I can hear a click, then sometimes it'll slowly crank over. We have had to jump it off a few times, but when we have taken it to Auto Zone/Advanced, they said the battery & alternator both were good. I did notice yesterday that it was slow to crank after it had sat longer than usual and a "Check brake system" screen randomly came up at start up yesterday! I was thinking the starter might need replaced, but the brake system thing throws me. Any ideas? It's so nuts to me I don't know how to explain it! Thanks for your input!

Is it the original battery? If it's 5 or more years old I'd replace it.

Check all your connections to make sure they are tight and clean.

The battery is a couple years old and still under warranty but they won't replace it because it's checking out as good on their machine It started weak again this morning after sitting all night and that check brake system message came up for a split sec. Could the battery cause that? Would it cause just that message to come up? Thank you!!

Clean the connections and terminals and make sure they're tight, try to clean the starter connections too if you can get to them
