ignition coils going bad

2007 Civic. I've had all the ignition coils replaced more then once, within a 8 month period. Various mechanics have no explanation for what may be causing this. Everything else checks out fine. Dealer says it could be because I'm not using Honda coils, but after market. I'm at a loss because I don't have an reliable car and this only has 100k on it.

Re: ignition coils going bad

probably because of the aftermarket coils. go get a set from the junkyard if you don't want to pay full price?

I would agree with them that could be the issue. Some aftermarket stuff is complete garbage.

Re: ignition coils going bad

Rock Auto has OEM ones at a reasonable price. I can try that.

That's odd..what code it it throwing at you? other then the misfire code. What cylinder is it usually? Could it be that one of the wires de-pinned itself and is causing the problem?

Re: ignition coils going bad

Just did it again, another coil went bad while driving without warning. I had set OEM coils at home and replaced them all. I know all the coils have been replaced, so I can't say if one is blowing more then others. What is strange, I don't do lots of driving 3 miles to work everyday. Shopping.
