I came across a random part in my wife’s Honda that heats up to glowing red hot while the car is on. It’s a 2013 Honda Civic and the warranty of course has just come to an end. I’m wondering if anyone knows what this part is called and whether or not anyone else has had issues with theirs heating up so hot that it flies red as well.

Re: Part identification
It's the air/fuel sensor and it's in the exhaust manifold right next to the cylinder head where thousands of explosions happen every minute.
Of course it's going to get hot. Just leave it alone
If it's literally glowing red, there's an issue. Catalytic converter sits just below that heat shield and if it's clogged then it can start glowing. Any check engine light or noticeable loss in engine performance?
If it's figuratively "glowing red" hot (i.e. it's just super hot), then that's normal.
The o2 sensor was glowing? Iv seen a cat get so hot it was glowing orange one time on a VW. The coil packs were always going bad on that car. I replaced the coil pack for the woman and the problem stopped. I cant recall what the 02 sensor looked like though. Are you getting any trouble codes? Car acts fine?
