If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Not sure how competent and knowledgeable he was (though he seemed to be), but yes. I did take him for a drive and caused the issue to appear both on surface streets and the freeway. He can back after identifying a broken engine mount...it was replaced and the issue remains.

HOW did you discover this? Did it finally set a misfire code?

No codes ever appeared. Dropped the car off at a local shop. the mechanic called and said it was the COP on the #2 cylinder. When he moved it to the #1 cylinder, the problem followed. I'm assuming he has a 'super OBD' that can indicate cylinder misfires...?

Smile Re: 2012 Shudder & Jerk

Had intermittent shudder and jerk for a few months. Car was throwing no codes and no check engine light. nothing on my scan tool.
Tried transmission drain and fill. fluid looked okay. Also changed out transmission filter. No changes.
Put in some STP fuel system cleaner. no difference.

Took it to a local foreign car mechanic.
His scan tool showed tons of misfires on bank 2 spark plug and then it would clear back to 0
He pulled the plug and the ceramic was cracked and looked to be arching.
Swapped all four plugs and replaced ignition coil on bank 2
Runs like new.
