Question 2007 civic ex sedan with engine code p0420

So my check engine light came on the p0420 code came up, have had some small oil loss, but none of it was leaking on the ground. Driving the car home after getting the code read i experienced a severe lack of power(cruise control wouldn't keep speeds up if i was going up the smallest of inclines). Is there anything i can try to fix this myself? the car has 98k miles on it

Thank you for any help

P0420 is due to the computer not seeing correct readings from the secondary (downstream) O2 sensor. Have you already done the basic maintenance items like a new air filter and new spark plugs?
