Has anyone used dupli-color clear top coat? For some reason, everytime I used it to apply a top coat on a painted piece, the paint becomes all wrinkles and never smooth and it also makes the painted color look faded. Anyone know why?

make sure you're painting it in a cool environment. nothing over 80 degrees. or else it wont stick right to the piece

probably because of the heat. make sure when you're painting it, you paint in a cool place. it will start to bubble and wrinkle up if you paint when its hot.

the paint you have under is enamel, and the celar coat is laquar...you have to paint enamel on enamel. or enamel on laquar

they have a bunch called "Plasti-Kote" try that....I know they have it at Pep Boys.

where can i find wheather the paint is enamel or laquar?

EDIT: if you don't paint the laquar Clear Top Coat on top of anything, why its call clear top coat?

that is the trick

if you are careful you will notice many of the clear coat says:" laquar, do not apply on enemel". and some clear coat is laquar, but they don't say "not to apply on enamel." BUt I would think is the same.

obviously, they expect to paint with laquar and clear coat with laquar.

you can always put laquar on enamel, with risk of wrikle, drip and effect of "lift" the original color. But if you are pro, nothing of these will happen as you will understand about coating window, coating kill etc.
