Thumbs up Detailing 69' Mustang?

Hey everyone, I know this isn't about my civic, but I have a question about detailing my dads 1969 mustang. We have entered it in a car show for later this month in Houston and I need to make it looks its best. It hasn't been waxed for about half a year now so I need to know what I should do to make it feel and look its best. It is a meadowlark yellow, a very light yellow. I have an orbital buffer as well, but I am still now sure the best way to go about detailing it. I am guessing I will finish up with a coat of meguiars gold class, since I have some left over, but what to do before, I have no idea. Id really appreciate your help with this.
