I've been going to a car wash that applies the wax themselves (during the wash, not by hand). I just want to know what you guys are using.
EDIT: My fault. I didn't quite know which forum to put this in. Should be in Products & Parts or Tech Stuff right? Can't be off topic, because it deals with cars, ours in particular.

I used to use Prolong. I think it was a synthetic polymer. It would last abouit 6 months. I got it off an ad on TV, but now I used it all up and don't know if you can still buy it anywhere.

I bought mothers aliminum/mag polish and didn't like the way it cleaned my rims so I bought meguiars gold class for car wax instead of mothers and all I can say is it looks great!

Meguiar's Gold Class -
Work great on every car I've used it on. Sweet shine.
I used Turtle Wax polish on my old car which was kind of fading. It was good.
I've also used Mother's Sealer/Glazer and wax... it actually works really good if you have a bunch of random scratches in places. Also used that on the old cars though.

do you all hand wax, or use some kind of buffer? I used to have a black truck , everytime i waxed it, these blotchy looking clouds showed when the sun hit it,, i dont want that to happen to my Red 02. I did it by hand.
i only use meguiars products. The deep crystal 3 step system works best for my VSM. But for some weird reason the gold class seems more reflective on my 2000 EBP.

you guys do know that just waxing your car isnt going to give you the best shine, right???
for the best results...you should use the 3-step-system
*cleaner*
*polish*
*wax*
...i use meguiars for this - AWESOME RESULTS!!

if your too lazy to spend 2-4 hours waxing and polishing your car with the 3+ step polish/wax, try using nu finish. i've used it many times and it works really good. i wax by hand and that daymn wax lasts longer than the meguiars stuff. it beads up rain reallly really good. i plan on gettin the california duster to wipe up the dust and dirt so i dont have to wash the car so many times.
California duster works great. I've used the same one for almost 10 years. My black car gets dusty just sitting in the garage and I can run that duster over it and it really shines. I've got two coats of Prolong on it.
Prolong works really good. It's a polymer compound rather than wax. It may be similar to Nufinish. My buddy's kid details the car, then puts on the Prolong. I put another coat about 6 months later. I have a whole kit with cleaner, interior cleaning stuff and a cleaner shiner stuff to use on the wheels and tires.
I put the wheel/tire stuff on the Civic about a month ago and the tires are still shiny, even after being through some rains.
But now I've run out of the Prolong for the car body.
Last time I cleaned up the Civic I used Zymol on the rear deck and top and Prolong on the hood. On my white car the Zymol part looks a little yellow now compared to the Prlong part. I think that's a problem with many natural waxes, the yellowing and the need to remove old wax before waxing again. I don't see that problem with the polymer type stuff.
