Don't listen to Martha Stewart. If you want to know how to clean your engine than do a search. I have posted many things on cleaning engines already.

I own a pressure washer and have always used it to clean my engine in the past. I never used any type of cleaner because you don't want any of that stuff getting on your paint even if it is diluted. The best thing to do is, just pop your hood every other time you wash you car and wash everything and rinse it off. Nothing will build up and it will stay looking new as possible.

Wipe it off with hot water by hand, I know that my audio and strobe wires from the battery would be bad for steam cleaning... not to mention getting any high pressure hot water in the fuse box or vtec electronics
