detailed the car, not impressed?
heres the procedure ive done spending 5 hours yesterday:
rinse
meguairs car wash soap (purple stuff)
rinse
mothers california gold claybar
soap again
rinse then dry
megauirs step 1: paint cleaner
meguairs #7 showcar glaze polish
meguairs gold class wax
then finally mothers carbanua wax (came in same box as claybar)
maybe im suppose to polish more but my results are the same as if i only rinse/soap/wax the car
the way i did the paint clean and polish is the same for wax... by applying small amounts and smearing it around the body then rub it around more so theres no smears. im not sure, but i think the paint on my rear lip is now cracking (it used to be only scratches/swirles)
did i do the process properly or am i missing something? the car color is eternal blue if it matters
rinse

The Mother's California Clay Bar package comes with a Carnauba Cleaner Wax. Cleaner waxes will generally take off whatever wax you had on there before. I'm not sure how strong this wax's cleaning properties are, but you may have thrown all you hard work out the window. Also, if you're planning to layer waxes, remember to wait at least 24 hours before applying the next coat. You have to allow the wax to cure. Not letting it cure could also effect your end result.
With all that said, I agree with Danase about stopping at your Meg's GC step.

I agree with Mogwai. Also doing things by hand are fine for normal everyday detailing. If you want to get all the swirls/ scratches Get a PC or even a rotary if you have the skills.
I say use PoorBoys SSR 2.5 then SSR 1. Then use ur carnuba. Im semi-noob. Danase can confirm this.

I agree with both Mogawai and BalisTek. If you are doing it by hand I actually recommend Poorboy's SSR 2.5 or SSR 2 followed up with Polish with Carnuba. Then if you want to top that with something you could go with EX Sealant, EX-P Sealant, Natty's Paste Wax or even on of the sealants FOLLOWED with Natty's.
Everyone is a newb at some point.

i believe that you over did your detailing. the next time you do your detailing, don't use the claybar (unless your paint is really bad) paint cleaner should do the job or the scratch x remover is ok too. try to use a different polish from meguiars (you can try the deep crystal polish). as far as the wax, only use one kind of brand. don't use the mothers wax if you are using meguiars. and i noticed that you applied the wax 2x! this is one of the reasons why your paint is not that glossy. wax does not make your car shiny. wax protects your paint. the more wax you apply, the more the paint will become less glossy. and another note, try using micro fiber towel when removing the polish/wax, then follow it up with a clean cloth to polish it. try this procedure, if you are still not satisfied, try a different brand.
My advice is use AUTOGLYM products. Try their Super Resin Polish and top it with their Extra Gloss Protection. AUTOGLYM is used in auto shows and recommended by Jaguar, Aston Martin & McLaren
