what order?

ok after i wash my car, should i use this 3M™ Perfect-It™ II rubbing compound first then wax or do i wax first?

i know theres not much wax left on the car, i stopped my dad when he was in the middle of cleaning it with dishwashing detergent and i hosed everything off. too bad its like 30 degrees here right now or else i would be outside detailing it.

Wait wait wait....what are you wanting to do? Going from a compound to wax will have your car looking like garbage. If you use a compound you are going to have to use a couple of more polishes going down in agressiveness. Compounds are harsh and will leave swirls all over your paint. What are you wanting to use a compound for?

i have this 3m rubbing compound that gets rid of fine scratches and swirl marks, it gives the car a good shine without swirl marks, i was wondering if this is enough or do i need a wax/polish before/after that.

the reason i'm doing this is because my dad washed the car using dish washing detergent, i stopped him as soon as i saw what he was doing. i heard that dish stuff can take off wax.

this is what i got:

i guess i should use a glaze afterwards then wax.

I don't luse 3M but I would find an even lighter polish after the 3M and then go to wax.

No Glaze is not the same as polish. Most glazes are just for filling in minor swirl marks and hiding then, not getting rid of them.

If you don't have swirl marks I would not even polish. But, if you want to polish I would use something very light aggressive and then top that of with a good sealant or wax.

poorboy's super swirl remover line is agreesive depending on what level you get.

good ol' clay bar, polish, wax, and sealant should bring a winter-owned car back to life

What I mean my aggressivness is that some polishes are more agressive than others. For instance, Poorboy's Swirl Removers. Their #3 remover is the most agressive and the #1 is the least. #3 will get out bigger scratches but you can not go from #3 right to a wax. You need to step down and go to #2 after #3 then to #1 or to their Polish with Carnuba.

Yep, it will leave swirls and is why you must step down to a less agressive polish after a compound.
