What is the best product to use on my new 2004 EL to remove insect, dirt, and stuck on grime that regular washing will not, and yet be safe for my paint job?
Please advise on product and method.

Use soap and a sponge and go in a circular motion... Usually that takes bugs off my car... If that doesnt work try bug & tar removal. Just go to a pep boys or auto barn.
You can try simple green... Just make sure you wipe it off right away, lol

go to advanced auto or auto zone and pick up the meguiars clay kit its like $10, used it on my celica, WOW, it took off tar, bugs, dirt, etc. its an awesome product for the price, the spray it comes with is a mist wax.well good luck, let me know how it worked out!
a clay bar is the best way to do that, and should be done IMO, once every 6 months at a minimum.. this keeps your layers of polish grime/grit free
the important thing to remember with a claybar is to keep your car well lubed while claying it.. they provide lube in some cases, but no need to purchase it if not or if you run out.. just make a very diluted mixture of carwash soap and water in a spray bottle and use that...
steps:
1) wash car, no need to dry
2) use the claybar to run over trouble spots (or entire car) while spraying lubricant.. be sure to not apply too much pressure, just let it glide and it will 'eat' the grime
3) wash car, dry, apply polish... claybar will remove some/all of your wax/polish so make sure you re-protect your paint/clearcoat

People...this guy is Canadian or so I would guess (hence the 2004 Acura EL).
We don't have Simple Green (unfortunately) or Pep Boys, or Auto Barn haha.
All he needs to know is Canadian Tire...
One stop shopping.
