Brand new Civic Coupe EX WAX?
Hi,
I just picked up my brand new civic ex coupe yesterday. Do I need to wax it soon or wait for a few months. Also what wax would you recommmend for this car. What about cleaning up the interior should I use armor-all or is there something better?
Thanks
Erik

I would actually detail myself. You never know how long the car was on the lot for. Think about it the car is exposed to the sun the whole day and exposed the all the elements sun, moring dew, rain, dust, and the sun just bakes all those elements to your paint. Your probably going to need to clay it too. Might be a new car, but the paint/surface isn't taken care of so well at the dealership. Forget about the "teflon coating" they put on and tell you "you dont have to wax your car for years" is a joke/scam.

you dont need to wait, the car wasnt painted then driven on the lot, its had time to cure. You can wash it right away. I would reccomend spending the time and effort of washing and detailing it yourslef. Nothing will ever compare to the results of a wash, clean, polish, wax and detail by your own hands. It takes a LONG time but well worth the effort if you want to keep that new cars paint looking new for years to come.
A lot of people will fully detail their new cars. Wash, CLAY, polish, wax.
The belief is that rail dust is a major source of paint contamination. Most cars are transported by rail, so it would be logical to get rid of this contamination as soon as possible to prevent any damage to your paint.
A lot of guys on the Roadfly Forums are fanatics.
Here's a search for "detail new car" on their web page:

Many of them refuse to let the dealer wash their new cars for the fear of swirls!
