Nonono, dishwashing liquid is not abrasive, it just removes any wax you may have on the car - not good.

And if you mean automated car washes, use only th touchless kind, they may not do as good a job of cleaning everything, but at least they don't scratch the paint and leave swirl marks. My car is a 2001 and has a perfectly shiny and smooth as glass finish because I have never taken it through the old-fashined car washes.

BTW shouldn't this be in the detailing forum.

NO, NO, NO! Never use dish soap or laundry detergent to wash your vehicles.
The harsh ingredients that make them effective for cleaning dishes and laundry can strip wax and harm the paint.

I was just curious because I used to use Meguiars all the time then I switched to Mothers and now I use a professional grade of polishes, selaants, and waxes and have had great experiences with them.

I think most people here misunderstood your question so I'll answer it two ways.

1) I wash it in the winter at an Esso touchless in Kanata on Sundays (weather permitting)

2) In the summer, I take it to the hand wash place on Laperierre cuz the waters warm and he uses the good soap and wax. I don't have a place to wash my car at my house. The place I rent is in the middle and there's no hose in the back where we park. It's in the front so you can water the grass.
