Most wax will stain the rubber and the moulding if you get it all over them....If you know you are a messy wax applier, you may try using masking tape and covering all the moulding. It will take longer, but it will give you a cleaner wax job.
I myself use both paste, and liquid....it depends on the product that I am using. Most paste waxes now are the same in liquid and paste...they last the same and they are applied the same, and removed the same. Paste waxes that are out now arent as good as the paste waxes of the past. It used to be that the paste waxes would last longer and give a better protection to your cars finish than the liquid wax would...but that isnt the truth anymore.

paste waxes are great still imo. Waxes like s100/p21s(pure wax), mothers pure caranuba and cleaner wax, pinnacle souveran and paste glaz(pure waxes), and even gold class for the individuals who want a 1 step cleaner wax. Liquid waxes like meguiars #26 high tech yellow are better left in liquid bc the paste version is too hard to apply(ive had both and i prefer liquid version). The thing is, paste still lasts longer than the liquid, but thats bc its more pure caranuba and they don't have to put extra solvents in it to make it in its liquid state. Everyone knows pure caranuba is hard as a rock, and that it needs some solvents to make it in its wax state. But then again, waxes really don't protect your car anymore, they just enhance the car. If you want to protect your paint, use a polymer sealant like zaino, klasse, blackfire, platinum, meguiars #20 polymer sealant, or even nufinish. To add gloss to these polymer sealants, a wax should be applied after 24 hrs to allow the sealant to cure on the paint(what i mean by cure is letting the layer that you applied and took off the excess allowed to be on the paint by itself for about 1-2 days b4 adding a layer of caranuba wax).
i bought this $20 random orbital buffer from walmart....MVP 10" orbital buffer/polisher is what it's called i think
hondaguy.....do i jus put on that polymer sealant and wipe off the excess rite away?? do i also have to wash the car b4 i put on the wax after i let it cure for a few days?

I dont like those cheap orbital polishers...I find that they do more damage to the paint than anything. They cause massive swirl marks to occur and if the car already has swirl marks they make existing ones worse.
the only reason i bought the buffer/polisher is cuz this one guy on maxima.org bought one and used it on his car.....he took some pics after applying one coat of mother's wit the cheap buffer and it looked nice....but if it leaves a lot of swirl marks...i'm gonna return it
i use a orbital buffer on a NHBP coupe and it leaves no swirl marks, swirl marks come from when you are washing the car. Aways use a delicate wash mit, and rinse it often, never scrub in circles. Always wash in a paralell fashion, you should never have to apply pressure when washing just place the mit on the car and drag it. With the weight of the water it should be enough pressure. Same with drying, never apply pressure always use a very very soft towel and place it on the car and let it soak up the water. Here is a tip in choosing a towel, when u feel it and you think it will scratch the paint, 98% of the time it will, move on to a softer towel. Always wash and rinse all your cloths and mits at the end of the wash. Swirl marks can come from orbital buffers if u use them incorrectly. The best way to use them is DO NOT apply any pressure what so ever.
