Rep Power: 0 back windshield is fogged up
i just bought my civic about a month ago and i started to notice the back windshield is foggy
but only under certain lights. i cleaned it with alchohol, and all different types of glass cleaners.
i took it to my dealership and they tried to pawn it off on my smoking, but i think that is B.S.
they cleaned it once and said it was fixed. i quit smoking in it, but the fog still came back, now the dealership wont touch it, i have a warrenty. i heard something like- if you take the car back 4 times and it's still not fixed they have to give you a new car...sounds kinda overboard to me but i dont know what to do and im definatly not gunna say F it....

Rep Power: 372 I know my civic had the same problem when I first got it....Is it fog or is it like an oily film?
If you put the rear defroster on does it go away or is it still there?
I had an oily film....but after cleaning the windows a few times....I never got it again. It may be a coating that they put on the windows in the factory....I dunno. I dont think that its enought to claim your car as a lemon.

Rep Power: 0 maybe its just your body heat, try to crack your windows to vent out some air and put the defroster on, and if it goes away then you dont need to worry. if it doesnt then its probably an oily film like what civicdude said.

Rep Power: 291 Is the back window tinted?
Do you use a sunshade? If you use the tinfoil type sunshade,
the back of it gives off an oily residue.
Are any other windows fogging?
Maybe it is just the glue drying.
You could try putting a closet humidifier bar back there to
absorb any humidity...try that out and pm me to let me know
how it goes.]
also, rainX makes an anti-fog window cleaner...you could always try that as well.

Rep Power: 0 yea it could also be from driving with your windows down. all the dirt and debris gets caught and builds up on your rear windshield. if you do drive with them down, try driving with them up. but if thats still not the case, then i dont know. sorry

Rep Power: 0 yeah i think it has to do with the platic back there, it emits some stuff that creates that film when the car is new. I think if u keep cleanin it , it will go away in time. maybe 6months or so

Rep Power: 0 I don't smoke and have the same problem. I tried the RAIN-X anti-fog stuff but it just seemed to streak. Yeah, the fog was gone but the streaks would not come off. I have just been using a terry cloth towel every other wash to wipe the windows down. The irritating part is that I can't reach by the 3rd brake light and the fog is really obvious there. It's actually on all my windows now that I think about it.................

Rep Power: 0 use a mix of 50/50 vinager/water solution. worked fine on mine and my dad's 2002 civics. it is an oily substance that sucks getting off, but the vinager water trick did it for us.

Rep Power: 0 For those of you who had the same problem occured, here is how you clean it up in the right way. Mix up water and vinegar in 10:1 and get a clean towel. Wipe all the inner windows that fogged up and then the problem would be solved. I know the smell might be bad at the first, but you can leave the moonroof opened a little bit or it would be gone after a while. I hope this helps.

Rep Power: 0 I have the same problem with my new coupe; it is normal though for a new car. It is the solvents in the plastics evaporating; it's called vinyl fog. I use E one 20/20 to clean, works pretty good.
