Gum On My Carpet!! (please Help)
Hi... I'm in need of assistance BADLY!
I usually don't drive people other than my son and girlfriend around in my car because I'm extremely **** about keeping it clean.. My son is 5, and he's wonderful about keeping his feet OFF of the seats, and NOT tracking anything into my car, but IDIOTS MY age are the ones I need to worry about!
(I think my son likes the civic as much as I do, he calls it; "daddy's new-hotness!")
anyway, I agreed to drive 2 co-workers to lunch the other day, and one of them stepped in GREEN gum and tracked it into my back seat!! (And the ******* didn't even appologize!)
The gum is now all over the rear carpet, there's lines of gum on the rear seat back, and theres a little more on the rear cup holder door!!!
(My son is the one who found the mess, and I traced it back to my co-workers shoes.)
I NEED to get the gum out, but I'm afraid of using goo gone! I don't want to discolor the black carpet, black plastic, or the black seat!!
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks,
- Jay

I used to work for a detailing shop, and we used some sort of Freon stuff on gum to remove it from the interior and it worked excellent....I will have to look on the internetto see If I can find that product on line for you.

Just found this
http://www.autopia-carcare.com/instod.html
Chewing gum
Removal:
XENIT Cleaner & Remover. Alternately, use a commercial aerosol gum freeze until the gum is brittle. Break into bits and vacuum up.
Thats the stuff.....No idea where you can buy it...Do a search on the internet

I am a detailer and if I was going to remove gum I would charge anywhere from $50 plus.....It all depends on the labor of removing the gum...You might as well just do the work yourself
You can also use ICE CUBES until you get that stuff. Just rub the ice cubes on the gum until it becomes hard and brittle. Then break it into little pieces and vacum up as Civicdude suggested. This also works if you get gum in your hair. Believe me, I know!!!!
Yeah ice does work. Peanut Butter also works. (I think it has something to do with the peanut oil breaking down the gum.) But only use that one on your hair!!

I knew about Ice Cubes, but it's not thick enough.... Imagine taking a chewed up piece of gum and stretching it out REAL thin (a little thicker than hair) and then SMEAR it all over the carpet & seats.
Thanks for the other info... I'll buy it and give it a try.
