bought 5 spd from picknpull
It came out of an lx or hx and i ended up using sawzall to get the lines off that day. When i put it in the garage trying to get the two cotter pins off the transmission i kept using vice grips and there's barely anything left as it kept breaking pieces off, i got like 1/8 inch left of one side and used rust penetrator. About the only idea i have to get them off is a drill with that size drill bit or smaller but it'll probably just break. I'm not really sure how to get it off. Could i swap the whole pieces under it thats actually connected to the transmission? I have a vtech that needs tranny since 5th gear pops out right after its put in. before i replaced the clutch i could hold it in with my hand but not anymore. The cotter pins were a lot easier to get out of mine though

You can swap the shifter. The car wont feel as peppy though because you're putting in a nonvtec trans, some of the gears are different

Cut the cotter pin off flush with the stud. Try using a small punch and a hammer to pound it out.
But yes, gear ratios will be different. LX has a longer FD than the EX, HX has an even longer FD. I don't think that would cause any performance issues but I'm not entirely sure.
