stuck gas pedal

Summary:
My gas pedal is stuck unless I push it down hard. Is this because of the dirty line that connects the gas pedal to something? I have no idea what the heck it's called. If it is, is there any way to locate it and clean it?

Story:
Just a few days ago, I backed out of my garage and proceed to turning out into the street. I used only the brake to do all this so I had no idea until I proceed to speed up to catch up to speed. I gently push on the gas but the car would only speed up about 1MPH, so it confused me. I looked at my fuel gauge and there's half a tank left so it could not be because I was out of fuel. I let go and push on the gas gently again but nothing. I was starting to get worried. I then shoved the gas all the way in because I was getting impatient and the car revved and speed up. I guess it was loud enough to catch the pedestrians' attention that they turned and looked at me. My car has not been modded for extra sound either. After that everything was fine.
I went to school, parked about 3 hours, came back out and proceed to driving off. The gas pedal is stuck again and I had to shove it in again. Basically, after a few hours, it gets stuck but after pushing it in hard it works fine.

Good thing it's not stuck down otherwise there would be big boo-boo.
