D17A2 harness help - NO START
Re: D17A2 harness help - NO START
Shouldn't matter unless damage was somehow done to the ECU, maybe wires were shorted together and caused some internal damage. A bad ECU is about all I can think of at this point. Unless the the keys weren't actually programmed into the new ECU and the immobilizer is preventing a start. But if that were the case the green key light would be flashing.

Thanks for the replies, so we’re ruling this a bad ECU? Next time do I need to get an ignition cylinder and key that matches a used ECU or flashing an ECU to match the key is good enough?
When did Honda start Immobilizer? Toyota started in 2003 with Corolla and Celica.

Don't all 7th gens have immobilizers? At least in the US/Canada.
Does the green key come on for a few seconds with the non-vtec ECU? If so I think this is a bad ECU.
2001 for the Civic I believe, not sure on others.

Green key light in dash NEVER came on AT ALL with either ECU. Seems I’ll have to spend quite a bit of money troubleshooting this issue. Either bend over at Honda and have them test the ECU ($140) Or spend another hundred or so on a new ECU and still run the risk of having to spend $140 at Honda again for them to program ECU.
Re: D17A2 harness help - NO START
If I had to guess I'd say the keys weren't properly programmed into the ECU. You could take it back to whoever programmed and ask them to do it again. Or try to find another junkyard ECU and get the keys programmed into it.
The green key light must be faulty which is why you never see it come on with either ECU.

Re: D17A2 harness help - NO START
We are confused because you flashed and it did not work, so potentially, like you said, ECU is a goner.
getting the ignition cylinder is OK, but you will need two keys, doors, trunk and back seat and one for ignition.
yes, 7th gen (2001+) got the immobilizer, the older ones are way more prone to be stolen because of this.

Re: D17A2 harness help - NO START
How about my green key light started intermittently NOT working, the first 3 days the car wouldnt start on first attempt, 20-30 minutes later it started and was perfectly normal the rest of the day, after the third day, no start at all, the 4th day I didn't touch the car until that evening and it started and drove fine, after about 30 minutes or so of driving I noticed the green key light blinking *while driving* (This is when I started to find the real problem) then when I shut it off back home, no green blinking light on shut off, like normal, and no green light when I tried to start back, this is when I started realizing this is why it wasn't starting the first few days. So for the next few days about once a day I would get the green light and the car would start, this was always following about 12 hours of sitting and not touching the car, and I could even shut it off and start back, but again after about 30 minutes of running, I would shut down, no green light, no starting back, after 3 days of that, I now have no green light for the last week, I have been reading and researching non stop and I'm about to pull my hair out, any help would be much appreciated.
