Question Power Steering Hose Isseus...

I have a 2003 sedan and have had to replace the power steering return hose to the reservoir twice already within a year. The problem is that for some reason the reservoir will pop out of its holder and the hose attached will be sliced by the belt. Has anybody else had this problem? Any ideas for a solution?

Re: Power Steering Hose Isseus...

You might be able to slightly crimp the holding bracket [ a little bit (don't go crazy) and it would hold tighter.

Re: Power Steering Hose Isseus...

i think there is another problem if the reservoir is moving. mine is very loose in the holder and its never popped out. does the hose have the factory clamp around it by the engine?

Re: Power Steering Hose Isseus...

I've never heard of that happening before, so there must be some sort of other problem causing it. As a patch repair I'd drill a hole in the bracket and bolt the pump in place.

That is actually a pretty good idea. I just zip tied the hose to hold it place for now. Its really a strange problem though.

It still does have factory clamps but I don't see how that really would affect anything except it leaking.

Zip ties are endlessly useful.

If I though it were something major then I wouldn't suggest adding a bolt, but I think it's probably just the bracket being bent slightly.
