WHAT BROKEN PLASTIC BEARING?!?!?! stupid 01 civics....

Everybody here is saying that the 01 bearings are plastic

'We don't have the part in stock. But we were told by our manager that it is metal'

What you think now ? Why is it so hard to know ?

LOL It doesn't however The email I got from Majistic makes me confused !

Maybe they are just stupid .. Maybe Honda upgraded the part

Who knows.. when was this pictures taken or when was this part changed ? Maybe its old !

After reading around this Forum i found out that the 02 bearing will fit but i also need to get the spring seat with and they will fit on my 01 Mount but not sure if this is ok

honda usually upgrades parts and doesnt say anything. obviously people with 01-02 have plastic bearings. i know i do and they are broken.

just us poor 2001s.... 2002+ have actual metal bearings.

i know cuz i have the 02 front struts ready to be upgrade with koni sitting in my garage.

So sl33pyriceboi whats is your current setup ? From mounts and bearing and spring seats and all that and also what kind of springs are you going to use to your koni ?

I found Moog strut mounts is it any good ? and they are little cheaper then OEM

Are they better than the OEM ones ? What you guys think ?

i have a 2001 honda civic.

koni yellows (so awesome) + eibach ground controls.


now, the GC are made specifically for my 01 koni.

however, the GC top hat is diifferent from the 01 and 02+ beause of the bearing difference.

ill post pixs when i fix my car. my car is on jackstands right now =[

moog makes some good parts. and sleepyrice im almost positive my 02 has the plastic ones, they sure looked plastic when we had all the suspension taken out.

koni top mounts (specific to bearing, since 01 and 02+ have different ones)

my oem 01 was plastic. the 02 used strut i bought was metal (it has lil metal ***** in them)

There is a good deal on the moog mounts if you go to advanced Auto Parts they have 20% Off on them ... And it says that they come with bearings...

If I try to get the Honda 02 OEM I need the Mounts and the Bearing and the Spring Seat
and that will cost almost like $145.88 Shipped VS $102.38 If I go for the Moog.

Is there anybody tried the Moog Mounts ? Or Should I stay away and get the HOnda OEM ones ?

Never used those Moog mounts but, everything else Moog that I've used has been great.

I think Moog is the best option that I should take ! However I will be taken pictures of my current setup and post here to see if I have my Original 01 setup or its been replaced with 02 before. I bought this car a couple months ago and it has over 100.000 miles on it

I miss my Elantra already lol

the bearings is ON TOP of the spring mount/plate. u cant see it from that angle.

LOL sorry about that .. Its just the fact that Im trying to get the right parts
And see what I have to go through just to make sure everything fits..

I know but its plastic !

This is from Majestic and Part # 51726-S5A-004 for the 01
for the 02 its
51726-S5A-701

From what i learned here the bearing from 02 will not fit the 01 mounts and you need to get the 02 mounts and the spring seats as well I hope Im not wrong because I was hoping just to buy the bearings from 02 and install them on my 01 setup

02 bearing will NOT fit 01.

you will need 02 bearings, 02 spring seats, and 02 top mount. (pretty much the whole upper 2002+ setup


look at the picture, the 01 and 02 bearing are completely different.

Correct ! and that will cost $165.92 Shipped. My other option is Moog which will cost $102.98 Free Shipping Now Moog or OEM ? lol Moog is good but I don't think that its better than Honda OEM parts right ?

True - I went to Advanced Auto Parts and Checked it and The bearings are Plastic !!!!! Plus the Rubber was painted I mean they paint the whole part even the rubber !


However looking at is not enough to judge Unless if we find somebody that tried it and see what they say about it

Psh.. you guys gotta do what I did and get some pillowball upper mounts XD

On a side note, the original top mount bearings in my 02 were plastic.. I think.. I dunno.. I've had my tein's with pillowball upper mounts for almost 6 years now..

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that when I changed my struts the the bearings were metal. I used OEM parts from majestic.

the 01-02 updated part is metal now when you order, another member confirmed this already. seems like 02 some were plastic too. i got one of the early 02 when they were first available and im almost positive its plastic. still need to replace that when i get new struts. those tokicos dont want to die lol.
