What are these springs that came with my new brakes? [solved]
I just replaced the pads/rotors/calipers on my 05 hybrid, and these springs popped out as I was removing the old pads before I could see how they were installed. The new calipers and the new pads each came with a set which tells me they're probably OEM not some aftermarket gimmick part, but not a single video I've found or thread on here mentions them.
I eventually happened to notice two small holes on the pads that they fit into, and from how they're positioned my best guess is that they help push the pads away from the rotor when the brake pedal is released. But does anyone know what they're called, or why nobody seems to include them in any DIY videos/threads?

You are correct. I don't think they came that way from the factory until ~2012. 2005 Civic Hybrid parts diagram does show it, but hybrids are much less common.
Google says they're also installed to help with pad rattle.
