2001 brake trouble
2001 brake trouble
2001 dx sedan 4cyl gas burner etc.
I put new rotor, caliper, pads, wheel bearing on saturday. bleed the line and took it for a test spin. im getting this tapping/noise when I press the brakes (left front side). I've had the caliper and brakes off 3 times now trying to figure this out.
the tapping stops as soon as the car comes to a stop. seems like it stops alsow when i really press hard like on a fast stop. btw, the pads seem to fit perfectly in the bracket, don't think they sold me the wrong pads by their tight fit.
help...

Re: 2001 brake trouble
wow, no one ever ran into this before? anyways, I took the caliper back off last night and put the shims back in, got some brake grease and greased the back of the pads, contact points on the calipers, contact point on the cylinder, slide pins. well that made noise quieter/ more deadened.
as the car is rolling slowly with the brake pedal barley pressed it is tapping like a high spot or something is hitting. wonder if my new rotor is warped?

Re: 2001 brake trouble
It's not warped, there just may be high and low spots on your hub. With a flat rotor on that somewhat untrue hub, it could cause that... but it should be shaking your steering wheel and bouncing the pedal for it to be a warped rotor. Plus rotors warp mostly due to improper wheel torquing.
Can you describe the problem more?
