Transmission compatibility

A friend has a Civic Vision, 2002, with the 1396cc engine and now with a failing gearbox. Rather than scrapping it I am looking in to seeing if a replacement gearbox is a viable option. Our local scrap yard has one for a 1.6 MK7, apart from the gear ratios being different would this be a compatible fit?

Are they both gas engines? Or both diesel? Not familiar with the European engine options

Physically they should bolt up as long as they're from the same engine family. Connectors should be the same as well. I would take photos of all the connectors and compare them to what's on the junkyard trans

I have done a bit of research on the clutch and for the 1.4 the plate is 200mm diameter but 212mm for the 1.6 so I am guessing the gearboxes may be incompatible.
