2002 Honda Civic Manual: Stopped Accelerating on Freeway
Hey everyone,
i need your help! We were on the freeway when the car wouldn’t accelerate. We were in 5th and it started slowing down and when she would press on the gas it would show the rpm’s increasing but the car wasn’t increasing in speed. It was like it was in neutral. We pushed it to the side and got it towed and don’t know want to be screwed over by a mechanic. Any ideas? Is replacing a transmission on this car worth it? Thank you so much! I really appreciate any help on this.

Sounds like your clutch is slipping. Not a super economical job to get done, but probably worth it if the car is good otherwise. Any nasty burnt smell after you pulled over?

also, how steep of an incline was it? Def sounds like clutch slipping. If I had to guess, $500-600 job (let's say 100-150 for a clutch, $450 for labor? At least that's what I was quoted when I asked a shop about a clutch install once on my 2002)
Exedy organic OEM replacement is always a good bet:
and just make sure the shop resurfaces the flywheel
