My cv axles won’t slide into the differential [solved]
I just rebuilt my 5-speed, all new bearings and synchros. Even replaced the bearings on the diff, cuz I had it all out. Put everything back AS WELL AS I POSSIBLY COULD. Now the OEM and the new cv axles won’t slide in. Stops like the splines aren’t engaging. I’ve tried removing the ABS ring, no different. Both sides are the same issue. The inner splines don’t appear to be dinged or dented. Pretty sure Rockauto sent me the correct Manual axles. Any ideas?

if it's on the knuckle side, remove anti-roll bar endlinks, let arms move freely
it's pretty tight fit, it's normal. Need to align very well
wriggle around
I think i did remove ball joint too

Sorry, no, it’s on the trans side. They go in the knuckle side fine. I have the top strut mount loose and the whole hub swings out the way. ✅

I've gotten an axle to pop in the diff by hand maybe three times. I usually put one end of my breaker bar up against the end of the CV cup and hit the other end with a rubber mallet to pop it in place.

Use a light coating of transmission grease or synthetic grease such as Superlube or Napa Syl-Glide on the inner CV axle spines and locking ring being inserted into the differential. Then use Brotato's suggestion.

it's annoying how those are stubborn to go in.
at the heat of battle, it's hard to believe in what we are saying, but it's just.... stubborn to go in...
congrats! Welcome to the club for swearing for days on in to the axle to go in!
