Hello there! I’m hoping someone can help me out my best friend gave me her Honda Civic 04 with the best intentions. My problem is malfunction indicator is on and the error code is p0741, the problem is that the Honda is American and the transmission is a bootleg from China. My friend’s husband did this to save money of course and has passed emissions before last time was in 2017. Does anyone know how I can make the malfunction light turn off and pass emissions? His response was to reset the light and go in but I’ve heard if you do this with a obd meter it doesn’t pass because it reports that I did this.

New issue or has this code always been there?

If it's new replace the related transmission solinoid/sensor.

If its always been there then replace all of the solinoids and sensors with Honda sensors.

Obviously the transmission does work, but it is known that non original branded electronics do not fully function on honda vehicles.
