Replaced ISB and Now I Can't Go Into 3rd or 4th Gear
Replaced ISB and Now I Can't Go Into 3rd or 4th Gear
I heard the dreaded whirring noise while the clutch was not depressed and based on all of the wonderful help here, believe I narrowed it down to the ISB. I followed this walkthrough, but when I got it back together, I can't go into 3rd or 4th gear. Before I disassembled, I had no problems going into any gear. No grinding, no resistance, nothing. One possibly important piece of info - while the slave cylinder was unbolted, the clutch was depressed, fluid everywhere, and the clutch pedal was stuck to the floor. Before I realized I couldn't go into 3rd or 4th, I had the car put back together and was attempting to bleed the clutch, but was never successful.
I'm going to take the transmission apart tomorrow. Just curious if there's anything specific I should be looking for. I plan on replacing the slave cylinder just to be safe.

Re: Replaced ISB and Now I Can't Go Into 3rd or 4th Gear
Did you shift it through all the gears before putting it back in the car?
When you Installed the two ball bearing back, did you possibly stick the spring in first instead of the *****?
The clutch has nothing to do with getting it into any gear with the engine off, being that 3-4 is a neutral setting on the shift cables I would rule out almost everything except the internals but I would still disconnect the shift cables first and verify I can’t shift it directly before pulling it out.
You might have just enough access to pull the shift mechanism out with transmission still in the car to make sure you actually had it fully in neutral between 3-4 when it was reassembled.

Thank you so much for your response @SlumpinCivic . Took the transmission out, removed those 2 12mm spring bolts and look what I found. Not sure how I did it, but I did. Hoping I can find a replacement and put this baby back together.
