It should.
The block is the same
D17 is the block style, SOHC 1.7L
A1/A2 is the head.
So if you had a D17a1 you shouldn't have any issues using that tranny with a d17a2.

What's your goal? Need new engine or just want vtec? If you just want vtec then you can swap the head from the a2 on to the a1 block (plus some other stuff)
