Cv axle wobbles
Good day fellas. I’m new here, any help would be greatly appreciated. .thanks
Here’s my problem, my civic the driver sides axles seems to wobble when I tested it on the jack stand. Passenger side not so bad. When making left turns or sharp u- turns, you can definitely feel the difference. The feeling like you have a over size tire on. You can also feel it on the highway when accelerating from 0 to 55 then when your at cruising speeds it seems to go away. All my tires are new, I check the lower control arm and there’s no play. The axle also don’t have any play but when I tested it with tires off and on jacks, u can see the wobbles on the axle it self. I hope it ain’t the tranny and just the axle itself.
Any help would be much appreciated and thanks again for reading. Have a good day..

[QUOTE=ezone;4758934]When were the symptoms first noticed?
(immediately after some work on the car?)[/QUOT
The symptoms were couple years back don’t know when it started but the shakes n vibes while going up hill and making left turns got worsen as times went and ideally it got more noticeable thats why I’m trying to fix it now.

Re: Cv axle wobbles
Without actually removing and stripping the axle shaft to see everything, I was trying to figure out what could have happened to the axle or inner CV joint to cause the problem.....
Like maybe during some front end work someone pulled the shaft out of the inner CV cup far enough that a roller dropped out of place.
Re: Cv axle wobbles
It's not either of those. I'd throw the axle at it.

Yea I was thinking the same also... . I’ve seen couple video on YouTube on different cars, their axle wobbles and it ended up being their hub bearings. But theirs hub bearings makes grinding noises and mines don’t. What’s wierd is my axle don’t have any play on it.U can hear a tiny click when rock left to right, I heard that’s normal though. The bearings ,lower control arms are all rock solid and is not lose..the passenger side axle wobbles but not as bad ... shouldn’t the axle turns true symmetrical. Others have said its normal to have a little wobble ... but mines seems over the top

But yours is not like that....... that axle looks like it's got a problem, one way or another.
Re: Cv axle wobbles
yea, I’ll probably look around for cheap axels if not I just grab one from a local shop. The only way to know is to replace ..
thanks
Re: Cv axle wobbles
I replace the axle today and it seems to be running smoother then before.. When I was under the car today , just my luck I found a torn rack and pinion boot.
Theres no power steering leaking but the bottom is full of grease. I just order one from the dealer, it cost $5 bucks and I’m getting it done Monday . Im just going to throw a bunch of grease on the joints , shaft and call it a day. Don’t know how long it’s been open to the environment but hope no dirt and grinds are in the rack yet..,
thanks a ton guys...
