Transmission problem

Hello guys
my name is faisal i have a 2001 honda civic and the wont go in D3 gear it has 337000 kms it would go in all the gears easily but once i try to shift it into d3 there is no light on gear indicator on guage clustor any help would be appreciated if i try to shift it from D to D3 it would go in 2nd gear

***moved your thread to the proper section, you had a 7th gen issue in the 6th generation thread section.***

Don't shift it.

D works it's way through 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

If you select a gear it will hold in that gear until redline which is not a great idea for these autos.

As well I was confused are you saying that it won't shift into d3 or that the light just doesn't turn on?

dear mac25 thanks for the help but the gear doesnt stuck in D3 like its supposed to stuck and also the light wont turn on

Might be as simple as your linkage is out of adjustment.

Just to clarify, when you put it D2 and accelerate to close to redline and then put it into D3 the car does not change gears?

After you move the shift level past D3 to D the car then shift?

when i try to shift my car from 2 to D3 the gear wont stuck in D3 amd move to D instead

I suggest before buying parts, follow that guide to access where your linkage cables connect.

Your issue might just be a broken part on the linkage, especially if you like to drive your automatic as if it’s a manual...
