Transmission, fix or replace?
Transmission, fix or replace?
I have an 03 Civic LX with a 5 speed. It keeps popping out of 5th. This seems to be a common problem with these years. My Question is, is there a different transmission (maybe a different year) that I could replace mine with, or should I just rebuild the one I have?
Thank you

Re: Transmission, fix or replace?
How many miles are on it?
I'm all for rebuilding, since if you get another trans you don't know what your getting (usually). If the miles are high then it might be worth to swap out with a lower mileage one.

Re: Transmission, fix or replace?
It has about 160K on it. I have no issues with rebuilding it, but I was just wondering if there is a better trans that will work in my car. The 5th gear syncro seems to be a common issue with these & was just wondering if there was a better option.
It just makes me scratch my head a little! I have an 89 CRX HF as my daily driver. It has 411K on the original engine & trans, not even a head job. So the thought of rebuilding a trans with 160K on it bothers me a bit
