Transmission Leaking

My tranny is leaking fluid pretty bad...looks like its coming from the driver side axle...its on my exhaust etc...splashing everywhere...

Im going to change the axle seal tomorrow...would i need to drain the tranny fluid out?

Autozone seals ok?

Re: Transmission Leaking

yeah just drain the fluid and fill it up with new. make sure the seals are installed properly otherwise it will still leak.

Re: Transmission Leaking

Are you sure the leak is not engine oil, such as from the oil pan or rear main seal?

Re: Transmission Leaking

yeah there are alot of places for leaks. i have trans fluid all over the housing and underneath coming from the dipstick hole, and oil from rear main seal all over the oil pan. at first i thought the pan gasket was shot, but after cleaning up the mess with carb cleaner, i saw the pan was fine. just make sure you know exactly where its coming from cause its easy to see fluid all over and assume. our accord has leaky axle seal and the whole trans case is covered in oil due to fluid migrating different places.

yeah just spray it down carefully without getting it all over you. most of it should wash away.
