Vibrate when stopping

I have an 01 civic lx that drives fine, however when it is coming to a stop i can hear and feel the engine vibrating heavily as if it is going to stall and the rev count goes to about 300rpm. if i press the gas there is a niticable delay in the response of the engine and rpm meter. It doesnt happen all the time but once it starts it doesnt stop for a good while.

any ideas on what could cause this problem. Im tired of going to the dealer/mechanics

if its an automatic tranny, check the tranny fluid (sounds Like a bad torque converter), if its a manual tranny, then make sure that you are pushin the clutch in all the way (if you are and it still does it, then the pressure plate could be going bad)

It's the motor mounts, I promise, whatever you think it is, it probably isn't. I had mine changed and my car feels brand new. Take it to the dealer and ask them if the "those things made of big chuncks of rubber" are supposed to look like that. If you have a warranty trust me they'll fix it. What ever you do don't tell that you "think" it's mounts, just ask them if they're supposed to look that way. One thing I learned is they don't like when people self diagnose.

To be honest that was my first guess. but the reason i didnt follow up on it is because i dont think it would explain the 1 second delay between when i press the gas and the response of the engine. Its almost as if the engine isnt getting enough gas when i am stopping. im going to the dealer to get the mounts changed tomorrow... its worth a shot
