Remote won't disarm the alarm

Remote will lock and unlock the doors. The panic button works. However, when after unlocking the door with the fob the alarm will still be armed and activate. Unlocking the door with the remote will not disarm the alarm. I have reprogrammed true in an attempt to fix the problem. Made no difference.

I currently have the alarm completely disabled.

Re: Remote won't disarm the alarm

Factory alarm. I followed the instructions I found here to disable it. Turn key to on position. Hold reset switch located by hood release till LED light comes on and indicates alarm is disabled. Same procedure works to disarm the alarm if it armed. The remote still locks and unlocks the door. When the alarm is enabled, the remote will not disarm it.

not entirely true. I think... My 2002 ex had a factory alarm that kept malfunctioning, so I found the little black control box under my dashboard (it was zip-tie mounted in close proximity to the in-cabin fusebox) and just unplugged the connector and tossed the control box into my box of spare parts. Keyless entry still functioned normally, door lock acknowledgement just changed from whatever speaker that was installed (that I removed) to the horn. Panic button honked the horn and flashed the low beams still.

At least, 90% sure it was the factory alarm. It was (possibly) dealer installed, so take that as you will. To find the box, I traced the wire to the LED indicator that was installed
