Where are the grounds?

I recently bought a used 02 Civic Sedan and threw in an FM transmitter for phone and music use. I've since noticed a high pitch ring whenever it's connected. After a few days of research I have read that the likely problem is a dirty/ faulty ground wire within the car. Does anyone know the general areas of all of the ground wires? I already know of the obvious battery ground wire but are there any inside the vehicle?

Re: Where are the grounds?

Yea quite a few, near the underdash distribution box, under and around the center console, think one or two under the seats,

Besides that whine, how is your (new to you) car doing?

Is it an aftermarket radio? They sometimes don't play well with FM transmitters. Definitely check all your grounds though!

Re: Where are the grounds?

Sorry for the late reply guys. It was origionally the stock stereo but I since found an old Clarion deck and hooked it up fixed the whining noise but the transmitter has broken in the meantime...

The car itself was in fairly good shape I've put about $1500 in maintinence in it so far and I've noticed a few common (according to google) symptoms I should look at in the next year. One being the fluctuating dash lights and headlights and and a whine to match it it also makes a sort of lawnmore noise when I hit the gas most days and lastly a slight smell of exhaust when I am idling at start. I'm no expert but I think I'll need to replace the alternater and header gasket in the near future. I am currently getting 550km a tank in mileage atm.
