Obd wiz issues......

Ok kinda strange issue. My temperature gauge on 2002 civic stays rightin the middle all day no matter what. But I plug in obd wiz and my laptop. And it reads all over the place up to 225. When it gets that high the cam sensor goes flat. Like not reading, and then limp biscuit mode. What the heck is going on here. Changed the thermostat and flushed the system, no change...

Car running fine m sounds like a communication or calibration issue if everything's running okay, but that's purely speculation since I'm not familiar with obdwiz

That phenomena has been a hallmark of Japanese technology for over 50 years.

The “visual” temperature gauge moves from cold to “operating range” and moves from “operating range” to overheating but hardly moves as long as temperature stays in range.

Before that technology, people would observe their temperatures constantly moving and be concerned when in fact everything is working normal.

Those sensors often seem to become heat sensitive and cause issues after car gets warmed up. Be sure to replace with OEM Honda brand and use generous amount of electrical contact cleaner on the harness connector and give time for that stuff to evaporate before plugging the new sensor in.

Properly filled with 50/50 antifreeze, and radiator cap holding 15psi you won’t actually boil till 260+
