overheat issue fixed

first off thanks to all of you for posting your issues and fixes, they have been a great help. i just bought a 91 civic 4dr,1.5, auto, lx...had to, my f150 gets thirsty too often and that makes the CFO(wife) of the corporation not to happy.
anywho, my civic's cluster temp gauge would start to climb as i accelerated and come down to normal when i released the accel. pedal or turned the heater on. i didn't notice any coolant leaks. i replaced the thermostat and radiator cap just in case. problem solved. just a lil info into my issue in case somebody else is going through similar symptoms.

according to the haynes manual the engine has a temperature sending sensor that is connected to dash cluster gauge in the thermostat housing or near it, i did not find it, i did see a coolant temp sensor. is this one in the same?

thanks once again to all of you, and i'll be checking in often to get ideas and help and to also chime in on some suggestions
