2001 Civic EX Cruise Control Issue

Hi... I thought I'd run this question by folks smarter then I.. The Cruise control sets, de-accelerates, and cancels. It won't resume or accelerate. I replaced the switch with new, figuring that was the simple obvious fix. Still the same symptoms. Before I start going any deeper, I figured i'd see if others have had this similar issue and what was the fix.

Re: 2001 Civic EX Cruise Control Issue

Dang.. I wouldn't think so. This car has like 250,000 miles. been a great car with the typical maintenance issues for a high mileage car. The cruise control sets just fine, i hit cancel and it works. I push the de-accelerate button on the cuise and still good. But if I hit the brake and then push resume, nothing. If i'm set and push that same button to accelerate, Nothing! I'm perplexed!!

Re: 2001 Civic EX Cruise Control Issue

Sorry I must have misread your first post, that sounds like the unit under the hood may have a problem, or the steering wheel button, but you said you replaced the buttons right?

Re: 2001 Civic EX Cruise Control Issue

Test the wiring all the way to the under-hood cruise control box first. Got a meter and know how to use it? When the resume/accel button is pressed/held you should see ~12V on pin 7 (light green/black wire) at the under-hood cruise control unit connector.

If you get nothing then the wiring is bad somewhere inbetween the switch and the cruise control unit. If you do see voltage then the cruise control unit is most likely bad.

Other checks are: faulty cable reel, open in the wire, blown #4 (10A) fuse in the Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box, check for voltage at the cruise control box when Resume pressed.
