How to Retrieve ECU/PCM from Foot Well?

My 2001 EX ECU/PCM module is unplugged and loose in the foot well. Is there a trick to fishing it out? Must the fan and ducting below be removed to pull it out?

Open up the glovebox, pop out the locks on either side so the box will open up wide same as if you were replacing the cabin filters. Or remove the door. You should see the slot where the PCM is supposed to go, it sits between the blower housing and the evaporator housing, above the air ductwork. Simply slides into the slot, but getting all the nuts and bolts started is a PITA. http://www.justanswer.com/honda/1x66...-involved.html Name: Pinout.jpg

Re: How to Retrieve ECU/PCM from Foot Well?

Thanks Ezone, I'll use those references for sure when I install the new module.
The instructions say the module slips in....but my problem is that I have unplugged all the plugs, removed the mounting nuts, removed the glove box, and can reach in and grab the module and move it around.....
The problem is that I just that I can't manipulate it the right way to get it out. My question was if one would need to tear out the fan/ducting under the dash to get the module out?
Thanks!

Ah ok. You must cut the plastic brace and remove the metal bracket to gain room. Give this bulletin a read, it shows how to get the PCM out of the dash and where to cut. http://www.oocities.org/pfeifferperf...Update-PCM.pdf
