Not grounding
Not grounding
I just installed an engine in my 2001 Honda civic everything was working but my car is not charging I did the electrical checks and was reading battery voltage till I grounded it on alternator stud then it wouldn’t read no voltage my ground is not good to my alternator where does it get its ground from ?
Re: Not grounding
Are the bottom alternator bracket bolts tight? There is a bolt from the bracket to the alternator and another from the bracket to the block. The wingnut tightens the belt but then these need to be tightened afterwards.
Also, make sure you got the ground straps from the engine to chassis reconnected.

Re: Not grounding
If you were checking voltage between the battery positive and the alternator positive stud you wouldn't see anything because they are the same point electrically
