CEL after timing belt change [solved]
CEL after timing belt change [solved]
2001 Honda Civic LX
113K,...second timing belt change since new
Everything back together, car started fine. I believe timing is fine.
p0113 and p1298. P0113 is likely cuz I forgot to plug in air box sensor.
Total work: replace timing belt, water pump. Crank and cam seals, new alternator, new Harmonic balancer, new (iridium) plugs, oil change, new valve cover gasket, plug seals, new air filter, and new coolant, new power steering belt and alternator belt. No heat at first....heat working fine after running for 20 minutes.
I can't clear the CELs....
ELD is p1298??? Is the ELD "plug and play "....or do I have to solder??? Battery has 14.4 volts when running.
A little crushed that I had CELs after timing belt change.
Thanks!!
Stu

re: CEL after timing belt change [solved]
At some point in time on my 2004 EX I had to replace he eld. I may be wrong, but I think he eld is like a fusible link in some other cars.
I didn't remember doing that at all until you mentioned P1298, which is what I had, I guess.
I cannot remember if that was just after doing the timing belt and etc, and water pump, or not. Or whether it went out on it's own at another time.
The eld is screw in screw out. There are some good videos on how to do it.
e.g. jimthecarguy
He says there's a TSB on it and they go out.

re: CEL after timing belt change [solved]
Thanks... I'll check out the video.
Concerned that previous threads and websites talk about a possible fuel injector driver module that went bad with p1298....... that sounds expensive!!!
I will change ELD and cross fingers!
