so stupid me, being tired during a long drive went to pass a truck and some now i managed to put it into 2nd gear and not 4th gear doing roughly 75. i know the motor is shot.i think a rod went into the oil pan. havent pulled the motor yet. the top end looks good from what i see. i pulled the valve cover off) but regardless, a new motor is needed. i dont know anything about hondas. this is a 2001 civic i bought a few months ago to be my commuter car since my truck gets 9mpg. so i know its a 1.7l motor, but dont know anything else. is there a different motor (b20b, or some 2.0l) that will drop in without mods? or is the 1.7l whatever moter the only one? im not looking for mods dont need to go fast, dont need to lower it, or any suspension work) and if someone knows where i can find out which motor it is, i would appreciate that. also maybe a source to buy a used motor.(hopefully in the denver area). i see some 1.7l motors going for $1k or less and im inclined to buy one of those. i work on vehicles a lot. have a lot of experience, and my garage is set up to do most auto work i need done. but i just need to know where to get a motor. i appreciate the help

Only the 1.7 is a direct bolt-in. Exactly what engine you need depends on your trim model. If it's anything other than an EX, you need a D17A1. If it is an EX, you need a D17A2. Can't help much with the logistics of getting one locally.
