Camshaft position sensor
Camshaft position sensor
Would my 2003 Honda Civic LX have a vvt solenoid I had timing belt and water pump replaced from a mechanic and now it keeps throwing cam sensor code and it won't let me get over 3,300 RPMs

Re: Camshaft position sensor
ah, typically after timing/water pump, high chances the sensors (camshaft/crankshaft) fail. Mine did.
could be grease/other fluids getting to them, could be because they were in place for decades and suddenly unplugged, etc
no VVT in D17A1, and honda calls them VTEC. VVT only changes timing, not camshaft lobes

Fresh oil I don't even have a VTech solenoid on this one it's just the 1.6 LX but apparently I have a VVT oil pressure switch on it is with the code was coming up as and I still had the cam sensor code too but that's the only two

Re: Camshaft position sensor
again, there is no VVT in the 7th gen civics. That's a different system, VVT changes the angle of the camshaft. The 7th gen cars have a VTEC-E, that changes from 3 to 4 valve operation - different animals (exception to Si model K-series engines).
What is the code you are getting?
Camshaft position sensor - I am not saying that they are unplugged. They tend to fail after being unplugged after decades in place.Or contaminated by grease or something during the job. Get a new sensor. Aftermarket does not agree with hondas, get a denso or NTK sensor. Or you can get one in a junkyard.
