You do realize that's an extra 12 HP, right? Does the cost of a replacement head, wiring, and VTEC ECU justify 12 HP?

Guessing about tolerances is not preventative maintenance. Why bother doing it at all if you're not going to do it correctly?

Let me guess, you used an Ebay gasket?

re: Misfiring ahhhh [solved]

I've made it quite obvious that I don't care... This is my beater toy and if it blows I have another vehicle I can drive. Gasket has been replaced with a felpro and is running great. I would be replacing the head since it is quite worn. Heck I'd replace the engine if I can find a decent one when I go to do it.

I didn't ask for negative opinions. Quit wasting your time on this thread complaining about someone else's decision and help someone else.

I originally opened this thread being curious about a misfire. Leaking coolant I could care less about. Just trying to make this engine last my $800 worth. Thanks guys.

If the leak is between two cylinders it will cause low compression in each cylinder and a misfire. Coolant leaking into cylinders can foul plugs and cause a misfire. A breach can get worse and then the engine is more likely to start overheating, but hey you "probably" fixed it, right?

by experience, while the engine is running, combustion gases will leak into the coolant and push coolant out of the reservoir when it gets full. When not running, coolant seeps into the cylinders and causes misfires when the engine was just started and cold, yes.

This too. Happened on a BMW E46 I bought for my daughter a few years ago.

re: Misfiring ahhhh [solved]

Gotta update I have not lost any coolant since the gasket change and I fixed the misfire after I found out crankshaft sensor went bad... Fixed crankshaft sensor and now it runs perfect and isnt losing any fluids. Now onto suspension. Thanks guys!
