I see this is pretty common with these cars. Searched and found alot on P1457.

Is it common for both P1457 and P0497 to come on together? The CEL comes on and goes off after a while so I haven't really done much about it. Recently I got P0135 which is the upstream O2 sensor code.

This is my dad's car and he recently called and said when he started the car the RPM was high (2k) sitting in park without throttle input. He was also unable to move the shifter to drive off.

I'm wondering if all of these issues are connected (maybe O2 sensor not related). My questions is, what is the likelihood both the CSV and purge solenoids would trip codes at the same time? I don't think both would fail at the same time, which is why I think this is something other than solenoid failure.

I'm going to look at the car this weekend. Any tips would be appreciated. I assume I need to look over the hoses make sure they aren't cracked. Anything else I can do without actually taking the solenoids out?

Do most shops have a smoke machine or is that rare?
