Civic Ep1 which engines fit straight in?

Hi!

So,

I recently bought a Honda Civic 2002 1.4 VTEC (ep1) , and already had problems right of the start. Resulting a blown headgasket which appears to be common on these models..

now I heard from a scrapyard they had a few VTEC engines laying around and my question is:

Are there any (VTEC) engines that straight fit in my Honda? And if so which ones?

Thanks in advance!

But for example, a same year/model D17a2 has different wiring/mounts than a D14a2?

So the only engine that fits straight in without modifications is the D14A2 ??

Honestly, this is the first i heard of EP1. Not many European members here. In US we have a EP3 which uses a K-series engine
Was not aware that EP1 have a D-series, for example.

NL is Netherlands?

Yeah the Ep models are pretty seen here and have a better look (in my opinion) that most civics from around that age

Yeah I’m from the Netherlands!

Re: Civic Ep1 which engines fit straight in?

From a Google search the EP1 looks very similar to the EP3. Ours got a 2.0L K20 though, no information on the 1.4L. Maybe someone with some knowledge will chime in.
